my sis in law heather makes these every conference weekend they are divine!HEATHER'S APPLE DUMPLINGS
combine in sauce pan:
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Heat over medium heat until mixtures become syrupy(about 30 min.)
add 1/4 cup butter(Into pan with syrup)
Pastry
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup shortening
add water to pastry mixture a spoonful at a time until dough moistened
role out to a size that will cover your apple
spoon in sugar and cinnamon mixture add a dab of butter
seal up apple and place in baking dish.
(syrup thickens as it bakes)
ENJOY!

looks wonderful!! I wish i had an oven. I will however print this out and get the ingredients for when i go to my friends house, she is a great cook.
Don't let Brandon see this... I'll have to make them immediately. ;) Did you slice your apple before putting it in? It looks sliced in the photo. Thank you so much for sharing this... I really do want to make them for the family... just not until the next couple of weeks are over.
yeah i did that apple slicer corer thing and in the picture that one in particular didn't get the sauce over it but i put it on after wards and that works just fine as well. a little less sugary ;)

just made these, mine were so NOT pretty, but they were more than delicious!!! nothing is left in the pan. and the syrup was oh so yummy!!!! definately something i'll be making again. kamryn even asked if i could make it somehow so she could pack it in her lunch and show it off to all her friends.
On our annual BFF getaway weekend, my friend and I stopped at Apple Farm Inn for a shared apple dumpling. Ours tasted better, and we decided to come home and bake them for our family. Then, your blog had the same thing. I just returned from the market and am now inspired to get busy! Thanks!

Mine didn't look so good, but these are WONDERFUL! I will definitely be making these for years to come. So, so yummy.
